Dr. Galante offers his patients a choice of implant fill material. Saline and silicone breast implants each have their own advantages. Saline implants are filled after placement, allowing greater flexibility in the ultimate size of your breasts. And saline implants can be less expensive than silicone models. Dr. Galante has been using them for many years and finds that the patients who choose saline are very satisfied with their results.

Silicone implant advantages are chiefly aesthetic. Some patients find that the gel-like filling has a more natural look and feel than saline implants. After 14 years of study, the FDA approved silicone gel implants in November 2006, declaring them safe and effective for all women who are at least 22 years of age. Recovering from Breast Enlargement Surgery

After your surgery, you will be released wearing an elastic bra designed to keep the breast implants in the appropriate position as your breasts heal. Pain following surgery is treated with oral medication. Light activities such as showering, walking, and dressing yourself can be resumed at your discretion, but be sure to give yourself time to heal. Aerobic exercise may be resumed in roughly 3 weeks.
