This 30 year old woman is a mother of two. She came to my Munster plastic surgery office in Indiana looking to improve the appearance of her midsection. To get her body back on track, she wanted to learn more about liposuction. Indiana moms often consider liposuction as a way to re-contour and slim the shape of their abdomen. This patient was unhappy with the appearance of her stomach even before becoming a mother. She had a prior liposuction procedure performed when she was 23, and though she exercises 6 days a week, she needed an additional plastic surgery procedure in Indiana to recreate a more pleasing contour. During her consultation, I noted that while she had good skin tone overall, she had a few stretch marks, lipodystrophy of the abdomen (a localized collection of fat) and a small pannus (a redundant skin and fat roll). For optimal cosmetic improvement, I would generally recommend abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) plastic surgery at my Indiana practice. However, this patient wanted a less invasive procedure that would have her back on her feet and back with her family quickly. The best option for her was liposuction. Indiana patients may choose this over abdominoplasty, but liposuction alone will not address hanging skin, so skin excision also was performed. During an excision, I remove the redundant skin that remains after the fat is removed using liposuction. This combination procedure was performed as outpatient plastic surgery at a Munster, Indiana surgical center. The side view in particular shows her improved profile. Even though she chose less extensive surgery, her clothes now fit more comfortably and she has achieved a more youthful and fit physique. Like the results you see?
